When both the farm owner and share-milker are with FMG, we can ensure there are no gaps or double ups on your cover. Give the team a call and we’ll make sure you head into the season confidently.

Mark Hislop - KaikÅura dairy farmerDairy advice so that you can make Good Calls this year
As New Zealand’s leading rural insurer working with over 10,000 dairy clients, we get to see a huge number of rural claims each year. This means we get to learn about the risks that affect farmers the most. This knowledge puts us in the perfect position to provide advice on how to avoid those risks and in turn avoid loss, stress, lost production, and downtime.
Stand Out
Over 60% of our milk contamination claims are due to antibiotic contamination SO make sure you follow DairyNZ’s MRS T process process to mark cows that have received treatment, so they stand out.
Size It
Almost half of all our milk spoilage claims are due to plant failure.
So ensure the chiller is the right size for your operation. If your milk solids have increased, you may need to up-size the chiller. Off-season maintenance is important to check your chillers are working correctly.
Back Up
Nearly 20% of our milk spoilage claims are as a result of loss of power.
SO have a back-up generator, that is tested regularly and ensure you have sufficient fuel on-hand.
