The East Coast Region has perhaps faced the most difficult of challenges in the last 18 months, however the resilience and willingness of people to help one another has been seen time and time again. The core of hill country sheep and beef, this area has faced challenges with land use change and its effects on rural communities, however the people are undoubtedly resilient and rally together to build stronger community ties with farming at its core.
When you vote for East Coast, you are voting to support the Melanoma New Zealand and the East Coast team.
“Melanoma New Zealand is vital for New Zealand with such high prevalence of skin cancer, particularly in agriculture, where outdoor work often exposes individuals to high levels of sun. In these areas, access to specialized skin cancer care can be limited. The charity's efforts in raising awareness, providing education, and offering mobile screening clinics ensures early detection and prevention of melanoma.
Melanoma New Zealand is especially important to my family, as I, as have many other experienced firsthand the impact of skin cancer on family. Supporting Melanoma New Zealand means supporting the health and well-being of rural New Zealanders who work tirelessly under the sun, providing them with the tools and resources necessary to protect against this deadly cancer.” Archie Woodhouse, East Coast representative.
