Growing crop
We cover your growing crop for loss due to fire or lightning or choose extended cover options.
Harvested crop
Cover for sudden crop loss for up to 12 months from the date of harvest, or until sold.
Hail cover
Optional cover for damage from hail is available during the whole period of insurance for your crop.
Frost cover
Optional cover for damage from frost after 15 November.
FMG’s Arable Crop policy covers your growing and harvested crops including maize, barley, wheat, fodder crops, and vegetables planted before 15 December.
Under this policy you can choose to cover loss caused by fire or lightning only, or, loss caused by fire, lightning, frost (from 15 November), windstorm, hail or impact by vehicles or aircraft.
Harvested crop cover includes while it’s in transit or stored anywhere in New Zealand.
If you suffer a loss covered under this policy within 40 days of planting, we will pay you 80% of the reasonable costs of replanting the damaged area in that same crop. For wheat claims, we’ll deduct what you’re entitled to under the United Wheat Growers insurance.
As soon as you lodge a claim on this policy, FMG will send out an assessor to investigate the damage and determine the potential yield.
